Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...

Matthew 28:19

Living out the Great Commission is the core mission of Gowensville Church. We are an Acts 1:8 Church that seeks to be witnesses to Jesus Christ from our Jerusalem to the Ends of the Earth. We want to equip believers with the Word of God and send them out with the Spirit.

Our Church partners with a wide variety of ministries, organizations, missionaries, and church planters. Our involvement with the Southern Baptist Convention means we directly support an entity called the Cooperative Program. Every Church in the SBC designates a portion of their tithes towards the Cooperative Program, and this money enables us to support the single largest mission agency in the world, the International Mission Board (IMB). The IMB employs nearly 5,000 career full-time missionaries who are living with and among 787 distinct “people groups” around the world.

In addition to the IMB, our involvement with the Cooperative Program funds the North American Mission Board, whose job it is to plant churches and reach people right here in North America. Our Cooperative Program money also goes to support the work being done in our own state of South Carolina through the SC Baptist Convention, which funds schools, children’s homes, and church planting in our state. Last, we cooperate with other Churches in our own back yard through our support of the Three Rivers Baptist Association, which works in northern Greenville county to reach the lost with the Gospel.
